  • Skootamatta Lake – Just a very short kayak or boat ride down the river brings you directly to Lake Skootamatta, where you can enjoy excellent fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and swimming at several nearby crown land beaches—including our favourite spot, Bible Island.

  • Kashwakamak Lake – Nearby lake with rope swings, swimming, fishing, and scenic shoreline.

  • Many hiking & nature trails in the Addington Highlands – Explore peaceful woods, lookouts, and lakeside paths.

  • One of the darkest skies in Ontario – The area is known for exceptionally low light pollution, making it an ideal spot for incredible stargazing on clear nights. Visit the North Frontenac Astronomy Park to see the first municipality in Canada to achieve Dark Sky Preserve Status, featuring the 16” Fred Lossing Telescope, open to the public.

  • Pioneer Museum in Cloyne - A small local museum offering a glimpse into early pioneer life in the Cloyne area, featuring historic artifacts, photos, and stories from the region’s past.

  • Milligan Meats Inc. (approximately 10 minutes from cabin) – Local butcher shop and specialty grocery offering high-quality meats, deli items, and food essentials — a great stop for stocking up before your stay or picking up fresh supplies for meals.

  • Northbrook Foodland (approximately 18 minutes from cabin) – Full-service grocery store in Northbrook for a complete grocery run.

  • Finnegan’s General Store & Ultramar – Convenience, gas/fuel and grocery items in Cloyne.

  • Northbrook Gas, Variety & Food Trucks – Quick stop for snacks, drinks, and essentials. Also has food trucks during the summer months serving icecream, poutine, and much more!
