How close is the cabin to Lake Skootamatta?
The river in front of the cabin connects directly to Lake Skootamatta, just a short kayak or boat ride down from the cabin, offering excellent fishing, swimming, and boating.
What nearby attractions are there?
Nearby attractions include Bon Echo Provincial Park, Lake Skootamatta, hiking trails, snowmobile and dirt bike trails, local stores, and some of the best stargazing in Ontario due to very low light pollution. Please see Local Attractions page for more details.

What is required to book and what is your cancellation policy?
A 25% down payment is required at the time of booking to secure your reservation. This down payment is non-refundable, unless the cancelled dates are successfully rebooked by another guest, in which case the down payment will be refunded. See our Rates & Services here.
Can you swim in the river at the cabin?
Although some guests have enjoyed the river for light swimming and water play, and there is a small sandy area near the dock that’s great for kids to play in, the river is not ideal for longer or deeper swimming.
For swimming, some of the best spots are just a short boat ride away on Lake Skootamatta, which offers several beautiful crown land beaches—one of our favourites being the pristine beach on Bible Island. In addition, guests can enjoy our complimentary season pass to Bon Echo Provincial Park, where you’ll find excellent beaches, swimming areas, and facilities for perfect day trips.
Where do we take garbage and recycling?
All garbage and recycling must be taken upon departure. A local dump facility is located nearby. Please do not leave any garbage or food outside the cabin overnight, as this helps prevent pests and reduces disturbance from wildlife.
Is there a grocery store nearby?
Yes. Several local stores are nearby, including Milligan’s Meats butcher shop, Foodland, and other options in Cloyne and Northbrook. See our Local Attractions list for more details.
